V.O.B. - Illustration: MAD TOY DESIGN

Based in Kansas City, Missouri, artist MAD (Jeremy Madl) earned a BFA in Toy Design in 2000 and has quickly become one of the freshest think tanks out there today. Working with clients such as Mattel, YUM Brands, Pepsi, and the NFL on a variety of projects ranging from promotions and packaging to character design, MAD has been able to utilize his toy design skills to take on anything a client may need creatively.

For the past six years, MAD has worked non-stop on his own licensed toy lines and brands under the MAD Toy Design label. His first licensed figure line, MAD*L™, is currently one of the hottest brands on the market and continues to fly off shelves globally with each new release. With toys, tees, prints, and various other products in development, MAD is always looking into new media outlets to express himself.

Additionally, MAD has been in a handful of shows and contests, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that push the design envelope to the next level. Expect to see a lot of new and innovative work from this up-and-coming artist in the years to come!

V.O.B. - Advertising: Nikon D700 Guerrilla Style Billboard

Nikon took its cue from our celebrity-obsessed paparazzi culture to launch the brand's D700 model in Korea.

At a busy Seoul subway station, Nikon mounted a huge interactive, light-box billboard displaying life-like images of paparazzi. Huddled together as if at a premiere, the "paps" appear to be jostling and competing for the best celebrity snap. The celebrities in this case were the passersby, who automatically triggered a deluge of flashing camera lights as they walked past the billboard. The accidental superstars then followed the red carpet all the way out of the station and into a mall - directly into the store where they could purchase the new D700. Mission accomplished.

V.O.B. - Music; Calvin Harris Humanthesizer

Humanthesizer, a joint creation between electronic musician Calvin Harris, Sony Music UK, and Bare conductive body ink, which turned 15 bikini-clad ladies into a giant human synthesizer capable of playing Harris's latest single, Ready For The Weekend. The performers stand on the pads, and touch each other on the hands or body to complete a circuit and trigger a sound. Harris, his hands painted with the ink, played the main keyboard line and effects by interacting with a row of eight girls. The rhythmic portions of the track were played by seven dancers performing a carefully choreographed routine. Watch the video below.

V.O.B. - Graphic Design: ddicted to Art & Design (My favourites part 1)

Eclectic, electric, electrifying and energetic are words that describe the work of art director and designer Pedro Vilas-Boas. Stationed in Lisbon, the Portuguese-born Vilas Boas collaborates with a variety of complementing talent and comes up with fascinating web sites, online and offline projects, graphics, posters and even T-shirt designs for A-list clients such as Nokia and Carlsberg.
Here are some selected pieces of Graphic design pieces that I really Love

V.O.B. - Interior Design: Reinventing Kids' Playgrounds/Spaces

We spend millions annually on "adult playgrounds" — stadiums, concert halls, bars, restaurants. We spend billions advertising and promoting them. Why is it that we do not seem to want to dedicate the necessary resources to give our children the best we can offer?

V.O.B. - Architecture: What A Car Park

Modern design is all about "experience" and these car parks pictured acknowledge that one's experience of a private or public place begins the minute they pull up in their car. Innovative developers and designers are recognising just how crucial this is - it's almost too late by the time the consumer arrives at the front door. The "experience" of good design starts well before that.
These samples demonstrate how luminous exteriors, bold graphics and neon bright lighting all work here to create a space that is breathing, achieving the previously unachievable - giving tonnes of drab, purely functional concrete a sense of life. - Lisa Evans

V.O.B. - Fashion: Marshall Artist Autumn/Winter 2009

The Marshall Artist Autumn/Winter 2009 collection is an eclectic mix of styles that marks a new direction for the brand, while at the same time drawing on a decade of developed MA style. The range boasts solid knitwear, denim and strong tailoring as well as great basic jersey and fleece pieces. The outerwear is what caught our eye, with traditional silhouettes ranging from heavy winter parkas in waxed canvas and vintage washed tailored suiting in autumnal tones. Winterweight lumberjack shirts and washed canvas shirts are also of note. Available in the coming weeks.

V.O.B. - Architecture: steven holl architects: linked hybrid

linked hybrid is a multi-purpose complex in beijing, china designed by steven holl architects. the project is
220,000 square-meters spread over eight interconnected towers. the multiple structures are joined together
by a ring of skybridges that each hold different public functions. the unusual design was created to counter
current urban development trends in china. instead of a sealed off private tower, the building is a porous
urban space that is open to the public on all sides. the complex houses over 750 apartments, recreation
facilities, a hotel, school and various public and private facilities. the concept for the structure encapsulates
a ‘city within a city’ providing service for over 2500 inhabitants. the building was recently named the
‘best tall building’ in asia and australia by the council on tall buildings and urban habitat (CTBUH)

V.O.B. - Kicks: Vans NYC Edition

Everyone knows that New York patrons love the Era in the spring/summer, but Vans making an official NYC colorway of the low-profile sneaker? Awesome. To homage legendary skate spots in four (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and New York City) Vans created special make-ups that drop this month. Although the sneaker looks as simple as black, orange and blue, the city artwork on the footbed will have you reppin’ hard on the low
